Phasing Out Facebook

Today I went to teach at Buckingham High School, where I'll be teaching this semester on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Talking with my cooperating teacher about students and how they want to be your friends, etc. made me think I should get going on phasing out my Facebook page. Everyone hears the horrible stories on the news where a teacher is fired over a misconception on her Facebook. Although my Facebook is clean (I don't really drink, dress conservatively, etc.), I just don't want to run that risk of something being misconstrued or taken out of context. Plus, Facebook is changing all the time and become about as annoying as MySpace. So, until David gets back, I have kept the people I actually chat/message with on there as "my friends" on Facebook. I just went from 200+ friends to 84! So liberating! As soon as David and I get to Hawaii and get internet hooked up, I will delete it and message everyone the link to this blog. A fun fact:

I told David that I wanted to delete my Facebook when he gets back. He didn't believe that I would do it, so I made a bet with him. I told him that if I don't delete Facebook a week after we get to Hawaii, that he can get an Xbox 360. So, you can see another reason why I'm upholding my end of the bet ;)

UPDATE on October 1st, 2011: This bet has since been terminated--or should I say lost by my husband. He will be on the island for a month before I can get there, so he told me today that because he's going to be so lonely and bored by himself, that he must get a PS3. I told him when I get there, if he gives it more attention than he does me, that I'm throwing it out the window. I'm not sure whether I'm kidding or not. So, our bet is off because he is a spoiled husband!
